Abstract

In previous papers, the mass transfer volumetric coefficient k L a for droplets in an agitated vessel with paddle impeller was measured by using the hydrolysis of ester with alkali and was correlated well with the power input per unit volume and the Sauter mean droplet diameter. The purpose of the work is to make clear the effect of a paddle impeller with wire-gauze blade, i.e., a wire-gauze impeller, on the continuous-phase mass transfer volumetric coefficient k L a and the Sauter mean droplet diameter d 32
