Abstract

AbstractThe mass spectra of the series (CH3)4‐nSi(SCH3)n (n=1‐4) and of (CH3)2Si(‐SCH2‐)2 were studied and the fragmentation processes under electron impact are discussed. The main features of the mass spectra are: (i) the high abundance of the molecular ions, (ii) the competitive loss of methyl and thiomethyl radicals from the molecular ions with formation of the base peak ions, (iii) the elimination of a number of neutral fragments as the most likely fragmentation process of the base peak ions.
