Abstract
We present an unsharp masking technique which applies two parameters α and β. We assume an original image is considered to be blurred due to low pass filter such as average filter. A high pass filter is applied in that image and α and β parameter combination of low pass and high pass images concludes output image. Simulation results indicate that (α,β)=(1.0,1.2) provides the most appropriate parameter set with giving reliable performance. Experiments were completed on 18 images, and their corresponding subjective and objective performances are provided.
