Abstract
Abstract: Information delivered by the media makes the people to communicate each other focus on that information. In the long run, communication about the same object between the people will construct a certain community characterized by the ideology of the media. In this sense, communication media plays its role constructing a community. Besides, communication media can also present the social reality only. It does not build a community, but just portraits it. Newspaper can build a certain community with information published in it. But it can just portrait the social reality of its readers. Kedaulatan Rakyat, the oldest newspaper in Indonesia, of course plays the functions above. It builds a community of the readers or just portraits the social reality of society. This paper describes moral problems of the people portrayed by Kedaulatan Rakyat especially its “Kasus†page. Economic moral cases stays in the first rank among others. The age of 26 up to 45 years’ invidious is critical ages for doing immoral acts.

Summary
VOLUME 3, NOMOR 2, DESEMBER 2005: 161-174 informasi dan fungsi hiburan. Fungsi informasi dimaksudkan untuk memberitahukan segala hal faktual kepada masyarakat. Dengan mencampuradukkan fungsi informasi dan fungsi hiburan, tayangan infotainment melanggar hak masyarakat untuk menerima informasi yang dibutuhkan. Tayangan “infotainment” tetap memiliki fungsi kontrol sosial, karena dengan ditayangkannya sisi-sisi negatif dari kehidupan selebritis, maka para artis akan lebih hati-hati di dalam perilaku mereka, akan timbul rasa malu dalam diri keluarga dan kerabat artis, serta mengingatkan penonton untuk tidak meniru sisi-sisi negatif dari kehidupan selebritis tersebut. Senada dengan tayangan “infotainment” di atas, berita-berita kasus moral tersebut mengkhianati hakikat keberadaan media Koran itu sendiri. Menurut pengasuhnya dalam wawancaranya dengan penulis, halaman “Kasus” KR dimaksudkan untuk fungsi yang kedua. Dengan demikian kasus-kasus immoral yang diberitakan dalam halaman “Kasus” KR tersebut merupakan realita yang terjadi dalam masyarakat. Dengan demikian halaman “Kasus” KR yang disediakan tiap hari juga dapat memberi gambaran tentang realita masyarakat, khususnya masalah-masalah moral yang ada dalam masyarakat. Dua masalah yang ingin dipaparkan dalam tulisan ini adalah: masalahmasalah moral apa saja yang dipotret oleh halaman “Kasus” KR? Siapakah pelaku masalah-masalah moral tersebut?
