Abstract
The aim of this article is to demonstrate in what terms, and how, marxist thinking moved from an ontological thesis, by which communism is defined as a mode of production of the communal absolute, to a radically new political thesis, where the proletariat is envisaged both as 1) a principle of unbinding; and 2) as that force which has within itself the potentiality of acceding, by way of contingency, to the political.
