Abstract

Abstract This note gives a brief history of the “martingale representation theorem”, one of the most powerful and fundamental theorems in stochastic calculus. Various forms of the theorem are presented so that a broad picture of the theorem can be seen from different perspectives. Some new extensions of the theorem, especially those connected to mathematical finance theory, are provided at different levels of depth as pointers for future study.
