Abstract
Abstract The embryonic development of Boreomysis arctica (Kröyer) was investigated. The time from the deposition of the egg until the individual leaves the brood pouch is approximately 3 months. This period is much longer than for Praunus flexuosus, Praunus neglecta and Neomysis vulgaris (Kinne, 1955), probably because of the lower water temperature at which B. arctica lives. During the marsupial development the embryo passes through hatching and two moults. The individual leaves the brood pouch immediately after the second moult. The time from the deposition of the egg to the hatching is about 26 days, from the hatching to the first moult about 40 days, and from the first to the second moult about 29 days.
