Abstract

The surface of Mars has shown itself to be a moderately active place, according to information compiled by Stephen D. Wall, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and Kenneth L. Jones, Planetary Research, Inc., Pasadena, and presented by Wall at the AGU Spring Meeting.Researchers think the planet undergoes great dust storms each Martian year. (A Martian year consists of 667 25‐hour‐long Martian days.) Investigators knew dust interacted with the atmosphere, but didn't know what effect that had on surface conditions.
