Abstract

Approach to marketing avian and exotic pet medicine should vary depending on the degree to which a practice specializes in these species. General practices should focus on marketing basic avian and exotic services to the local community, whereas more specialized practices should market to special interest clubs, pet shops, and referring veterinarians. Suggestions on how to reach these target markets are outlined, but ultimately, the best marketing is word of mouth recommendation from clients who are happy with the competent and caring service that they have received.
