Abstract

In this paper a portfolio model of marketing strategies is presented based on a study of consumer/product relationships in the EC with particular emphasis on reference group influence. First, supporting models and theories from the fields of consumer behavior and marketing are reviewed. Then the model is discussed in relation to applications in the European market. Finally, future perspectives for change in European consumer behavior and product preferences are addressed, along with implications for marketing strategy and further research.
