Abstract

The aim of the research was to explore the market trends of injectable drug delivery systems, the causes of such trends, possible issues surrounding injectable drug delivery, and future implications of the injectable drug market in the US. Research and empirical data yielded strong evidence of needle-free and implantable medication injection delivery systems overtaking the current market for injectable medication delivery. Causes of such changes proved to be pharmaceutical and medical technological advancements, patient and provider demands for more safe, cost, and result efficient medications and delivery, as well as a growing elderly population. Possible problems for the market include initial start-up costs for some needleless devices, and lack of interchangeable cartridges.
