Abstract

In this month's special focus, World Pumps turns to the USA. Since our last review in October, the economic downturn in the country continued. Now there are signs of improvement in some areas, but a full return to growth looks unlikely before next spring. We begin with a detailed analysis of the current status of the major end-markets for US pump manufacturers and the underlying economic factors, provided by Bjorn von Euler, director of corporate communications at ITT Industries. Next, Lev Nelik of Liquiflo Equipment adds his insights, and we follow this with a series of case studies from some of the country's leading pump manufacturers illustrating the innovative use of pumps in major flood control and water supply situations, in HVAC applications and in chemical processing.
