Abstract

Epiblepharon, a relatively rare condition in the white race, was first reported by Ammon, 1 in 1841, in the eyes of children. He was also the author of the name for this condition. Since that time, this anomaly, which was recorded by Dimmer 2 in 1885, Bachstez 3 in 1916, Sziklai 4 in 1917, Elschnig 5 in 1922, Hessberg 6 in 1922, Bergmeister 7 in 1923 and Yan Chow 8 in 1925, has been confined to occurrence in the newborn and in children up to 5 years of age, in some cases together with congenital entropion of the lower lid.
