As we mentioned in our 2005 article, when the book was first published in English translation and entered the North American literary market, it seemed that bookstores were uncertain what to do with it, shelving it in any number of sections - for example, autobiography or life writing, graphic novels, Middle Eastern history, young adult, or children's literature."</p>
