Abstract

SynopsisThis study sought to determine the effects of training in the Couple Communication Instructor-Training Program on the decision-maldng of married couples. Data were gathered by using a decision-making model which employed a self-report questionnaire and a conjoint tape-recorded interview. Analysis of the data indicated that Couple Communication participants scored significantly higher on self-esteem, had significantly lower disparity scores on the sex-role preference measure, and used significantly more verbal persuasion strategies than the comparison group in decision-maldng. In the absence of pretest measures caution is warranted in interpreting the results.
