Abstract
Tuberculosis and Candiasis are the two infectious diseases which globally affects considerable number of the population annually. Many synthetic drugs are accessible for the treatment but are expensive and cause toxicity in humans. Moreover, prolong exposure of the drugs has led to emergence of multidrug resistance. Marine derived natural compounds as alternative strategies have attracted significant attention and been widely used nowadays. Pharmacologic researches with marine compounds have contributed potentially to the ongoing global search for therapeutic agents in the treatment of multiple diseases. We present an overview of some promising marine bioactive antimycobacterial and anticandidal compounds from a therapeutic point of view isolated from marine sources.
