Abstract

In this paper, we consider a multivariable optimization problem of revolution control of the marine engine. First, in order to apply the adaptive extremum control scheme proposed by Krstic’ et al. to marine engine, the basic algorithm is extended to avoid the instability caused by the time delay in measuring the output (cost function). Next, the proposed method is modified to enhance the performance based on the multivariable optimization algorithm. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is evaluated by computer simulations for multivariable case and preliminary single variable optimization experiments for real main engine of the ship.
