Abstract
Abstract While the Health Care Provider's (HCP) first duty is to care for patients, their secondary duty is to care for self. However, when the health care provider becomes the patient, accepting treatment with marijuana may create uncertainty. Health care providers who would benefit from marijuana for relief from chronic pain, depression, or anxiety may do so with the threat of legal action and the possible loss of license and career. By reviewing the legal landscape of marijuana for medical use by HCPs, an action plan can be developed to bridge the gap between federal/state regulations and policies.
