Abstract

This paper is a critical analysis of Birth Control in America a social history, by David M. Kennedy. The thesis of this paper is that the depiction of Margaret Sanger's character in the book is based not on objective interpretation, but on sexist ideology. A critical view is important because this is a definitive historical work on this major social movement. To establish the veracity of the thesis the content of the first chapter of the book is analyzed for instances of data interpretation that appear to be bared on sexist ideology. An innovative, decisive method for such analysis is used.
