Margaret Ann Storkan-Paving the way: The charitable and scientific contributions of a woman dermatologist in the 20th century.

Abstract

Margaret Ann Storkan (August 27, 1919-December 3, 2000) was a harbinger for women in dermatology in the 20th century. After graduating as one of the only two women in her medical school class at Creighton University School of Medicine in 1944, she went on to become the second woman to serve on the American Academy of Dermatology Board of Directors and the first woman elected as vice president of the American Academy of Dermatology. Her footprints as a researcher, professor, overseas volunteer, and woman dermatologist may be found throughout dermatologic history in publications, teachings, professional societies, charitable contributions, and, most of all, through the lives of those she touched.
