Abstract

Place—the location of an artist—is a significant issue in the creation of artistic work. The work of many “border artists” recognized by the mainstream art‐press is made from the perspective of the United States. The work of Marcos Ramirez ERRE is made from the southern—TijuanA&Mdash;side of the U.S.‐Mexico borderline. This article examines his art and the ways that his perspective marks him as different from other artists who have taken the border as their subject.
