Abstract

AbstractThis paper marks the centenary of the death of Jesuit meteorologist Père Marc Dechevrens on 6 December 2023. He had a remarkable though largely forgotten career, its highlights worthy of record. He founded Maison St Louis Observatory in Jersey and became its first Director in 1894. Prior to that, he had been an observatory Director in China, where he built up a good reputation for the Jesuits and himself, specialising in typhoon forecasting.
