Abstract

Within the next several years the United States of America will commemorate the bicentennials of the American Revolution and the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Appropriate recognition of these events will include research on this exciting period in American history. Particularly significant to such research are contemporary manuscript and printed maps and charts. This paper surveys some of the general and specialized cartographic materials of the Revolutionary War period, with particular emphasis on those in the collections of the Library of Congress' Geography and Map Division.
