Abstract

The immunity to the toxin encoded by the P1 virus of Ustilago maydis was mapped on the smallest of the viral dsRNA segments. Mapping of the immunity was performed by derivation of strains carrying only part of the P1 dsRNA. The transmission of the immunity by cytoduction was shown to be associated with the transfer of the light dsRNA segment.
