Abstract

In the light of recent terrorist events there is more interest than ever in smart cards. Many national governments are considering issuing multi-application smart ID cards which can act as passports as well as allow the cardholder access to other services such as library, electronic tax returns and driver's licence. The article provides an update on relevant issues in the rapidly-changing arena.
