Abstract

We report on the direct observation by means of low temperature scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS) of additional peculiarities in the local tunneling conductivity caused by the presence of low-dimensional structures—Ge adatoms and domain wall on the Ge(111) surface. We also proposed a theoretical model to explain the physical reason for the formation of the observed peculiarities. We consider such systems to be good candidates for the formation of charge and spin configurations by means of STM/STS technique.
