Abstract
The contribution of the counter-rotating terms in the many-atom Jaynes-Cummings model is examined. Numerical results for the time evolution and time averages of the atomic population inversion for various numbers of atoms and different initial fields (Fock and coherent-state fields) are presented. The results demonstrate the significance of the counter-rotating terms.
