Manuel Neri: artists' books/the collaborative process

Abstract

As a masterful sculptor and draftsman, Manuel Neri has always emphasized spontaneity, expression, and intuitive creativity as a hallmark of his art. Over the last fourteen years, Manuel Neri has collaborated on four original and intriguing artist book projects. The production of artist books, or the more elaborate volumes known as livres d'artistes. often involves extensive collaboration among diverse creative individuals. This publication highlights Manuel Neri's most recent activity in this area - seven unique artist books that incorporate his original drawings and poetry by Pablo Nemcla. Again, Neri has defied the conventions of normal artists books, eschewing regularity and edition prints for the familial' and direct contact of his original drawings.
