Abstract

IntroductionPain in the throat, mouth, and neck has a wide differential diagnosis. Eagle's syndrome includes throat and mouth pain which may radiate to the neck, ear, and face and be associated with swallowing difficulty; its diagnosis requires the presence of an abnormally long styloid process.Clinical presentation and interventionA 40-year-old female presented with symptoms including throat and ear pain and was found to possess a long styloid process with calcification of the stylohyoid ligament. The symptoms were relieved after a course of manual medicine.ConclusionConservative treatment is usually advised for Eagle's syndrome, and manual techniques may be effective for the symptoms.
