Abstract

To the Editor.— The Journalpublished an article entitled "Estimates of Physician Requirements for 1990 for the Specialties of Neurology, Anesthesiology, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Radiology." 1 The American College of Radiology (ACR) has had a Manpower Committee monitoring supply and need for both diagnostic and therapeutic radiologists for more than ten years. This committee has been responsible for a number of publications dealing with the subject of manpower requirements in radiology. 2,3 The chairman of that committee was one of the representatives to the Graduate Medical Education National Advisory Committee (GMENAC) Delphi Panel in Radiology, and the other representative from radiology to the Delphi Panel was nominated by the ACR. Recognizing the future imponderables, the ACR takes no official position regarding numbers of diagnostic radiologists needed by the year 1990.
