Abstract

This paper describes the design of a possible manned lunar vehicle and some of the significant trade-offs in its design. To be discussed are propulsion trade-offs, protection against radiation, structural design tradeoffs, and other factors. The design is presented in detail and includes all elements of a manned lunar spacecraft. This includes emergency escape means for powered and outbound flight, space cabin design in cluding crew support, displays, controls and the like. Integration of propulsion, power, communications and other subsystems into the total manned lunar spacecraft will be summarized. A full scale detail mockuphas beenbuilt and is shown as part of this paper. This is the command/ re-entry vehicle for the lunar space craft and its internal features.
