Abstract
PREVIEWTick-borne illnesses have become more common and widespread in the United States because of such diverse factors as climate change, increased deer populations, suburban development, and participation in outdoor recreation. In addition to Lyme disease, such vector-borne illnesses as ehrlichioses and rickettsioses also have emerged as important clinical considerations. In this article, Drs Goodman, Lazarus, and Martin review several tick-related illnesses to provide a framework for the evaluation and treatment of tick bites and associated diseases during this year's tick season.
