Abstract

We have evaluated the polarity and degree of isomorphism in metastable aluminides with the L12 structure resulting from the solidification of superheated aluminum alloys with two transition metals: Al–Sc–Ti (Zr, Hf), Al–Ti–Zr (Hf), and Al–Nb–Ti (Zr). The degree of isomorphism has been shown to depend on the similarity of the dimensional and energetic characteristics of the transition metals forming the aluminides, the presence of diagonal and vertical isomorphous series between them, and the melt superheating temperature Δt.
