Abstract
Mangrove plants play an important role in the lives of local coastal communities in Indonesia, one of which is an ingredient for traditional medicine. Local coastal communities have a variety of local knowledge utilizing mangrove plants to treat various types of diseases. Many studies related to the utilization of mangrove plants for traditional medicine have been carried out, but are specific to certain locations. This literature review aimed to determine the variety of mangrove species that have been used by local coastal communities in Indonesia through information from previous research articles. This study used a literature study method with a systematic literature review (SLR) research design. The literature search used the Open Knowledge Maps database with several keywords used to assess the articles included in the research. The result showed that there are 17 families of mangrove plants that contain species with medicinal properties. The mangrove family that is most widely used for medicinal plants is Rhizophoraceae. A total of 36 mangrove species that have been used by local coastal communities to treat various diseases were reported in 12 articles.
