Abstract

Indonesia has good manganese potential, but its utilization has not been optimal. It has been unable to meet domestic needs because of the low production level. Thus, it needs to conduct more exploration activities. Karangnunggal district, Tasikmalaya regency, is one of the manganese minerals located. The method to prospect the manganese distribution in the area was applying a geophysical approach. The measurement employed the time domain induced polarisation (TDIP) method in 17 lines. In this study, the process deployed the Wenner array. Each line has a length of about 117.5 m with an electrode spacing of 2.5 m. The outcome shows that a manganese mineral has a chargeability of more than 5 ms. Based on the 3D visualization, it can be identified that most deposits spread to the south and the east while partially located in the north and the west of the study area. The 3D chargeability modeling generates the estimating manganese volume of about 2.4 million cubic meters.
