Abstract

Manganese incorporated earth-abandoned Cu and Sn-based quaternary metal chalcogenides QDs such as Cu2MnSnS4, Cu2MnSnSe4 and Cu2MnSnS2Se2 QDs were synthesised via hot injection method. The structural and optoelectrical properties of these three QDs were examined and compared. Due to their enhanced optical and electrical properties, these QDs were employed as sensitizers for QDSCs. It was observed that the photovoltaic performance of the Cu2MnSnS2Se2/TiO2-based QDSCs has improved photocurrent, open circuit and efficiency in comparison to the other two QDSCs. This is due to the synergetic effect of Cu2MnSnS2Se2 QDs arising from the interaction of selenium and sulphur.
