Abstract

This research aims to find out the ritual process, form, meaning and function as well as the value of local wisdom contained in the Mangan Na Paet ritual carried out by the Parmalim belief. The theory used in writing this thesis is the Semiotic theory put forward by Charles Sanders Peirce and the Local Wisdom theory by Sibarani (2021). The research method used is a qualitative method. The results of the research are: Mangan na Paet in the Parmalim belief system, there are 18 forms found in the Mangan Na Paet ritual, including: Pounding tool, Ampang, Parmasan, Solup, Jual, Bale, Pangurason, Pardaupan, Lage Tiar (mat), (Inggir -inggir) sparrow eggplant, (Bulung ni botik) papaya leaves, (Sera-sera) small jackfruit, (Te Bolon) kaffir lime, (Lasina) chilies, and (Sira) salt, (Ihutan) Parmalim leaders and general participants , as well as the time of implementation in the morning or manogot ni ari, of the 18 forms above each also has a different function and meaning.
