Abstract

Solid waste from health services are those resulting from the various activities carried out by health establishments such as: hospitals, clinical analysis laboratories, tattoo clinics, veterinary clinics, dental offices, pharmacies and even those produced in home care. Due to their constituents, they can cause various problems for both humans and the environment. In view of this, the objective of this work was to evaluate the handling and management of Solid Waste from the Health Service of a Family Health Program – PSF, located in Caucaia-CE. The methods to achieve the objectives were “in loco” visits and observation of the activities carried out. The results obtained indicated several problems at all stages of waste handling and management, which consequently leads to a greater exposure of risks to everyone who handles this waste, as well as the patients who attend the place, in addition to bringing impacts on the environment. environment.
