Abstract

In the area of irrigated agriculture, there is a lot of research and information available, but this does not often reach water users, mainly the small ones. Therefore, this project aimed at providing vegetable growers - open market vendors with technical instructions, in the neighborhood Morada do Sol, in the municipality of Rio Verde, Goias, regarding the management of irrigated agriculture and qualifying the students of the Colleges of Environmental Engineering and Agronomy and preparing them to the job market. Based on management techniques guided by the university students, the horticulturists were able to reduce water and electricity consumption, improve the irrigation efficiency, increase productivity, extend the life of the irrigation system and direct specific water use with quality to the relevant crop, which justifies the social and environmental relevance of the project, as well as the benefits to the society and the gain of knowledge and interaction among the university students.
