Abstract
Background: Mandibular infected buccal cyst, also known as paradental or bifurcation cyst; is an unfrequent inflammatory odontogenic cyst first described by Stoneman and Worth; included in the WHO classification of odontogenic cyst and tumors in 1992. It is a site and age specific cyst; localized on first and second permanent molars. Its pathophysiology remains unclear and multiple theories have been proposed. This cyst is observed as a swelling in the buccal vestibule of the affected molar. Frequents symptoms are discomfort, pain in the affected area, suppuration but many cases remains asymptomatic. Radiographically is described as a circumferential radiolucid area. Conservative approaches are usually the treatment of choice, with the enucleation of the cyst and follow up of the affected tooth.
