Abstract
Immediate reconstruction with free tissue transfer using vascularized bone has become the mainstay in the management of composite defects of the mandible. The flap of choice in each case must be individualized. For wounds in which the soft tissue requirements are complicated, use of scapular free flaps may be particularly advantageous. The anatomy, harvest, and applications of osteocutaneous scapular flaps in mandibular reconstruction are discussed.
