Abstract
The miracle question asked in the traditional way highlights the disparity between the goals of the referring agency and the mandated client, and perhaps it also accentuates the client's perception of powerlessness. This paper demonstrates a variation of the miracle question that is designed specifically for mandated clients that bridges that disparity, engages mandated clients' participation in therapy, and enhances connections between what the clients, referring agency, and therapist each want from therapy. Creating a balance among the many influential perspectives, while giving the client's voice privilege, offers mandated clients the choice for successful therapy.
