Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the management of character education based on the tradition of Islamic boarding schools at Al-Kahfi Somalangu Islamic Middle School, Kebumen. Qualitative research is used in this study. The research location is located at the Al-Kahfi Islamic Middle School, Somalangu, Kebumen. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The respondents were school principals, deputy principals, guidance and counseling teachers, class teachers, and students. Data were analyzed through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings show that the management of pesantren tradition-based character education at Al-Kahfi Islamic Middle School is by planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling/evaluating, while pesantren-based character education is carried out through learning, extracurricular activities, and habituation to students with identical religious characters, honest, tolerant, disciplined, love the motherland, friendly and care for the environment.
