Abstract

This study aims to determine how the management of culture-based character education at the Roudlotul Tholibin Islamic Boarding School in Sirau Kemranjen Banyumas. This study uses a qualitative method. The subjects of the research were the caregivers of the pesantren, the principal, the teacher, and the head of the student organization of the pesantren. Data were collected by interview, observation, and document analysis. The results obtained in this study are 1) character education planning is prepared following the vision, mission and goals: "independent, affirmative, non-profit, transformative, adaptive and professional education" by developing a pesantren curriculum, 2) in organizing responsible character education is the principal; 3) character education is implemented by applying the traditional pesantren learning methods, namely; bandungan method, sorogan method; and 4) control is carried out by all stakeholders, through the imtihan method (an exam which is typical of pesantren); means the process of determining values that have a relationship with character education in Islamic boarding schools.
