Abstract

The process of validating a complete software development project is a complex and time-consuming task. Using the experience gained in previous projects, the Computer Systems Development group at Smith Kline & French Laboratories has developed a strategy that makes the task manageable. This article describes the validation methodology employed during a recent year-long laboratory automation project. The completion of the software and the completion of the validation coincided, allowing the software package to be put into production without delay.
