Abstract

Where Functional Safety risks must be kept low throughout the lifecycle of an electronically-controlled safety system, the acceptable level for the risks that could be caused solely by electromagnetic disturbances or electromagnetic interference (EMI) is about 100 dB (i.e. 100,000 times) lower than the acceptable risk of failing normal EMC immunity tests.
