Abstract

AbstractDiscouraged by the challenges inherent in making organizational changes, many business leaders seek to overcome these obstacles by establishing a change management program. To ensure timely and effective results, such a program needs to involve not only the organization's leaders as sponsors of change and the project team members as change agents, but also the employees who will be affected by the alterations to the work environment. As one hospital that took this approach discovered, empowering those individuals as partners in the change process does far more than increase the probability of a successful change. It also teaches the employees a new way of dealing with it. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
