Abstract
Catherine is an advanced nurse practitioner working alongside her medical colleagues in a large general practice in the North of England. She receives and treats patients with undifferentiated complaints. Today she is called urgently by the reception team to see a patient who seems to have become acutely unwell while trying to make an appointment.
