Abstract
The assessment of glomerular filtration rate (GFR)2 is a mainstay of renal function evaluation and renal disease staging. The test is so ubiquitous that estimated GFR (eGFR), via calculation from measured plasma/serum creatinine, is reported routinely in most hospitals. In certain clinical situations, accurate measurements of GFR are needed, such as in kidney donor evaluation and assessment of renal function pre- and/or post-nephrotoxic medication administration (1, 2).
