Abstract

This book is designed to present to the general practitioner information about the mechanisms of headache and its treatment. The authors emphasize the subjective aspect of the problem and stress the importance of the history of head pain as the way in which a specific diagnosis of the various types of headache can be made and through which the various headache mechanisms can be better understood. The discussion of psychological mechanism is too analytical and pat for the average practitioner and may discourage his interest in this phase of the problem, but it does serve to point up this most important aspect of dealing with a patient with headache and the necessity for a complete personality investigation before any regimen of therapy can be successful.
